Admin Volunteers

Purpose

  • To help us to inform our members of activities around the county

Key Tasks

  • Help with mailers (labelling, stamping and stuffing envelopes)

Magazine Deputy Editor and Features Contributor

Purpose

  • The Deputy Editor will be a member of the Editorial team to identify content and plan the magazine.  Editorial meetings are usually on Monday mornings from 10-12 noon approximately 24 weeks per annum (8 weeks prior to each publication)

  • Features contributors are welcome to contribute articles of interest whenever they can.  

Key Tasks

  • Magazine planning

  • Editing articles

  • Proof reading

  • writing copy

IT Buddies (volunteers)

Purpose

  • To enable visually impaired people to use IT in their daily life

  • Good communication and IT skills

  • Enjoy meeting and helping people

  • Ability to work as part of a team

  • A sense of humour

Key Tasks

  • To assist the IT project Co ordinater

  • To work alongside service users

  • To demonstrate IT specialist equipment/software

  • To create a welcoming atmosphere

Two references will be required

A DBS check will also be undertaken

Kenilworth Club Leader

Purpose

  • To enable a Visually Impaired person to access a social club
  • Good organisation skills
  • Enjoy meeting people
  • Working within a team and under own initiative
  • Excellent communication skills, patience and a good sense of humour

Key Tasks

  • Welcome New Members
  • Welcome and introduce speakers
  • Help with organising speakers and entertainers
  • Help with fundraising for your own club
  • Chair meeting with your team of volunteers for club planning
  • To oversee the Treasurer and club Secretary
  • Two references’ and a DBS clearance will be required 

Leamington Club Leader

Purpose

  • To enable a Visually Impaired person to access a social club
  • Good organisation skills
  • Enjoy meeting people
  • Working within a team and under own initiative
  • Excellent communication skills, patience and a good sense of humour

Key Tasks

  • Welcome New Members
  • Welcome and introduce speakers
  • Help with organising speakers and entertainers
  • Help with fundraising for your own club
  • Chair meeting with your team of volunteers for club planning

Club Helpers for Leamington and Kenilworth - other areas also

Purpose

  • To assist the Club Leader with the smooth running of the club
  • Enjoy meeting people
  • Excellent communication skills, patience and a good sense of humour
  • Working within a team
  • A regular commitment of approx 3hours per club meeting

Key Tasks

  • Meet and greet members as they arrive at the club and help get the members settled in
  • Help make and serve refreshments – Tea coffee
  • Help wash up
  • Mingle and chat to members
  • Two references’ required

Volunteer Drivers

Purpose

  • To transport a Visually Impaired person to a social club /event
  • Use of own car
  • A full valid driving licence
  • Fully comprehensive insurance and MOT if required
  • Knowledge of local area
  • Enjoy meeting and helping people
  • Patience and a sense of humour

Key Tasks

  • To take Visually Impaired members to social clubs and Drop In Centres in your locality.
  • To arrive at venues at the agreed time.
  • To welcome passengers and assist them in and out of the vehicle.
  • To report any accidents or incidents to WAB
  • To complete any paperwork accurately
  • To commit to driving on a regular basis
  • Two references and a DBS (formally CRB) will be required
  • Mileage expenses paid
