Bedworth and Nuneaton Club gets support from Bedworth Lions

On Friday 19th October 2018 Chris and Vicky two of our Vision Support Officers attended 'The Lions Den' Event hosted by Bedworth Lions. This was the second event of its kind and Warwickshire Vision Support had been shortlisted as one of five charities bidding for the Bedworth Lions support. Nuneaton Round Table also joined in with the event and contributed towards the Grant Funds.
The evening was Compared by Jim Lee and June Tandy the Deputy Mayor was in charge of awarding the prizes.
Supporting Chris and Vicky on behalf of Warwickshire Vision Support was Tina Jackson one of our Volunteers who supports both the newly formed Bedworth and Nuneaton Club and also our Nuneaton Vision Support Centre. A number of beneficiaries also gave up their Friday night to come along and support us.
Warwickshire Vision Support were one of five very worthy charities who made presentations to The Lions. The other charities represented on the evening were Roots to Branches Autism Network, St Michael's Tranquility Garden, Friends of the Nook and Bedworth Walking Football.
As part of the presentation made by Chris and Vicky some of the judges were given 'Sim Specs' to try on. These spectacles simulate a range of eye conditions including Macular Degeneration and Glaucoma.
When the prize awards were announced Warwickshire Vision Support were awarded a fantastic £1,700 towards the new recreational club for visually impaired people.
Warwickshire Vision Support would like to thank Bedworth Lions Club and Nuneaton Round Table for their kind and generous grant. We would also like to thank everyone who turned out on Friday night and made the evening a real success including Deputy Mayor June Tandy and Compare Jim Lee.
