Working in partnership with Henshaw's Newcastle, come along and take part in an entirely free day of activities! Open to anyone with a visual impairment aged 5 and up, including their friends, family or siblings.

British Blind Sport are looking to recruit a new Participation Officer! This role will work to take forward new and established links and initiatives across the visually impaired (VI) community across England to grow participation in sport.
Candidates for the post must have a proven track record of managing and delivering projects. High level project and event planning skills needed. Knowledge of working with or supporting visually impaired people is desirable. The successful applicant must be able to work flexibly and be willing to travel to other locations as the role requires.

Residential Sports Camp a Success!
11 children enjoyed a weekend of sport and adventure activities including golf, bowling, goalball, football, cricket and outdoor activities such as abseiling. This was rounded off with the UK VI Boccia Championships!
Junior Visually Impaired Tennis Festival
If you are 18 and under and looking to try the sport or improve your game then why not come to the Tennis Foundation’s Junior Visually Impaired (VI) Tennis Festival.
The Festival will be delivered by coaches who are experienced in VI tennis and we can guarantee all participants will be hitting balls by the end of the festival!
What can you expect?
• A free racket to use during the festival and take away
• Opportunities for parents to get involved

Congratulations to our Superhero - Ryley!
On 19th August Ryley Hector completed the Superhero Series Triathlon to raise money for British Blind Sport. We would like to say a huge Thank You and Congratulations to Ryley who finished 1st out of all the solo competitors in his event! Ryley completed a run, cycle and swim placing 11th out of 115th competitor in the Superhero Sprint Triathlon. This was his first Triathlon and an amazing achievement. Well done Ryley!

IBSA Blind Football European Championships 2017
FRIDAY 18TH AUGUST TO SATURDAY 26TH AUGUST 2017
The IBSA Blind Football European Championships 2017 took place this month in Berlin!
The Three Lions faced Romania, France, Italy and Germany topping Group A, before unfortunately losing to Spain on penalties in the semi-finals. The team did incredibly well taking home the Bronze! Congratulations England.

Nominate a Disability Sports Coach in the UK Coaching Awards
Nominations for the twentieth edition of the UK Coaching Awards are now open and UK Coaching is encouraging those who take part or are involved in disability sports to recognise their coaches.
Do you know a coach who goes above and beyond the line of duty? Have they transformed someone’s life or had a significant impact on their local community? Now is the time to show your appreciation for all they do and nominate them for the UK Coaching Awards.
Hosted by UK Coaching, the showpiece annual event is seen as one of the most prestigious within the coaching community and this year will be held at The HAC, City of London in November.
Nominations remain open until Friday 22 September, act fast to ensure your recognise the work of those who coach and encourage more people to be active.
