As you will be aware the country is experiencing the effects of a new virus called ‘Coronavirus – COVID 19’. This virus is similar to flu and mimics many of the symptoms including; increased temperature, cough and respiratory issues. Warwickshire Vision Support have been monitoring the situation. We are linked to the Warwickshire Department of Public Health for guidance. For those of you that have attended our support centres this past week you probably have been given hand sanitiser and advised on more vigorous hand washing.
Unfortunately, the virus would appear to affect the elderly more than the young and there is a higher risk of contamination when in large groups.
With this in mind we have taken the difficult decision to suspend our weekly Vision Support Centres and all of our 14 recreational clubs. We are very mindful that for many of you these services are a lifeline and you look forward to them each week.
Vision Support Centres
Effective Monday 16th March 2020 we will suspend our support centres for the forseeable future. This decision will be reviewed on a weekly basis.
With immediate effect, we will suspend our clubs for the forseeable future. We will be contacting all of the Club Leaders directly and will be ensuring that all Club Members are made aware at the earliest opportunity to avoid any inconvenience. This decision will be reviewed on a weekly basis.
